STILL HERE
Still Here is a planned public installation centered on a full-sized bus that will hold recycling collected from a single shared civic event, like a university football game.
During the event, attendees will dispose of their cups, bottles, and packaging as they normally would, trusting that the material will be responsibly handled and disappear into distant systems. Instead, that material will be preserved intact and returned to public view, filling the bus and remaining visible over time.
The work is grounded in a simple physical reality: matter does not disappear. What we discard does not leave the world, even when systems are designed to make it feel that way. By placing familiar waste back into shared civic space, Still Here interrupts the story of disappearance and invites a deeper reckoning with responsibility, scale, and the systems we rely on to carry consequence out of sight.
The installation creates a clear rupture in how people understand disposal, revealing that disappearance is not a natural outcome but a system design choice... and failure.
These images illustrate how the Still Here installation may appear once filled with recycling collected from a shared public event. The installation has not yet taken place.
